Biography

Gabriel Leonoudakis is a native of the rich and diverse city of San Francisco where he was influenced by the many cultures and art forms of the world. He received his education at the University of California Santa Cruz where he received BA’s in fine art and psychology. He then went on to study illustration for his Masters degree at Academy of Art University. He spent the next few years illustrating editorial art and children’s books. During that time he was also commissioned to create brands and got into the world of organizational development where he learned skills in designing infographics and process maps. He also developed a few fine art styles and started an outdoor-wear brand. Gabriels philosophy is that energy can be transferred from image to viewer through the use of line, composition, color, chemistry, and subject matter. Gabriel imbues his artistic message within the anthropomorphic lens of his creatures and creations. The attitude he wishes to convey is a love, respect, and wonder for the forms of the natural world. His influences are many, from his teacher Kazu Sano, to artists like Robert Bateman, James Jean, Phyllis Schaffer, Rick Griffin, Maurice Sendak, Ul De Rico, Shawn Tan, Mark Ulriksen, Dali, Renaissance Masters such as Leonardo Da Vinci, and Professor Elliott Aronson. When Gabriel isn’t working on Art, Gabriel is an outdoorsman, adventurer, and inventor.
