Biography

Lucy Yanagida is an oil and pastel painter of landscapes, wildlife, and nature living in Superior, CO. She has taken workshops and classes from some of the top-rated artists in Colorado. Lucy is an award-winning painter and continues to polish her skills to the highest level.

Lucy felt for some time in her younger adult life that there was an unrealized artistic potential lying dormant for years. She returned to school and received an Associate Degree in Graphic Design and worked in that industry for a few years until she began a family. That inner call to learn to paint was realized in 2012 when she began to learn to paint.

Bringing up her son and exposing him to nature, the beautiful landscape of Colorado along with its exquisite wildlife, awakened Lucy's own interest in nature and understandably that interest was coupled with painting. It is her wish to awaken that curiosity and wonder of nature in others.

Lucy is continuously inspired by master painters, Ned Aldrich, Ralph Oberg, James Reynolds, Luke Frazier, Kim Lordier, Josh Clare, and others.
