Artist

Biography

From a small child, I seemed to gravitate more to a ball of clay, than to a pencil. Though I casually enjoy several mediums, I love the space taken up by three dimensional art. I love that I can create my art subject from every angle; and clay serves that purpose well.
I have been creating full figure sculptures since 2012. Prior to that, I created my 3D art, making different forms on the pottery wheel. Taking workshops and studying anatomy is continually moving me into new directions. It is challenging and rewarding, every new story I create in clay.
I love nature, native, organic, spirit. Earth fills me with awe, and from it I draw inspiration to create work, that would glorify its Creator.

I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. Raised in a beautiful middle class suburb called Rembrandt Park. My childhood was magnificent. Growing up in a country so rich in fauna and flora, with many different cultures and diversity of peoples.
A beautiful country large enough to boast lands from sub tropical to arid climates, canyons and a rain forest. And the amazing array of species of animals all around.
I graduated from Hillcrest High School, located in Kwa-zulu, Natal. Which is located on the Eastern Coast of South Africa. I followed a career in drafting.
I relocated to the United States in 1987. Starting out in Southern California, then to Alaska, where I resided for eleven years. My husband and I moved down to Washington State in 1998. We live in the North Eastern corner of Washington and have the pleasure, and the luxury of a small holding, nestled in the mountains, with horses and a lot of wildlife.
My days are filled with home and ranch management. I enjoy working outdoors. Every year I love to work in my vegetable garden and yard. I do my best to spend a good amount of time in my art studio.
My art reflects my African and American influences. I have deep roots that pull me back to Africa, but living my adult life in America, has also strongly influenced my inspirational draw.
