Biography

"I am an enigma wrapped in a contradiction!" - Denis Wik
Retired Graphic Artist and World Student
I was born in Berlin Germany and was raised in an orphanage until American parents adopted me at the age of four. My mother encouraged me in the arts and soon I was taking clarinet lesson and enrolling in art summer camps. I graduated from the University of Sioux Falls with a BA in art education! I taught 1-12 art in the public schools for four years in the Mid West. This included working with special education children and teaching adult art classes at night in stain glass. I moved my family to California to be close to my parents and to give my two sons a good liberal education. I worked as a graphic artist for over fifteen years ending up at IBM. I took an early retirement to help take care of my aging father until he passed away. I just recently got back into applying brush to canvas after 20 years of computer art. I am enjoying the challenge of just using my mind to create contrasting and thought provoking paintings.
I am President of the Campbell Artist's Guild for the last four years.
